Sunday Snuggles: Big Bear Edition

September 27, 2015 By Sally 4 Comments

Rugby seldom likes to sleep all by himself.  He sometimes sleeps under the dining room table, but he’s usually brought along a polka dottie piggie to keep him company.  His pillow bed doesn’t have any sides to it, so we’ve put a big stuffed bear toy on it for him.  Naturally, it ends up all over the room every day, but Rugby will consistently seek it out when he wants to nap.  It’s almost as big as he is, and has longer plush “fur” on it.  At times, I’ve wondered if it brings back early memories of naps in a puppy pile with his litter mates of long ago.  It always warms my heart, and I’m always so happy to see that Rugby can find ways to bring comfort and security to himself.  Happy n007apping!!

What a wonderful Sunday Snuggle! Our oldest corgi loves having a bolster on his bed to snuggle up to. Perhaps you've talked about this earlier, but with his reactions to other animals, do you think Rugby would ever be able to accept another fur-sibling? Or is he best to be a dearly loved only child?

Rugby's two other beds have bolsters as well, but since his pillow bed didn't, I knew I needed to provide something for him to prop up his head and snuggle, since he rarely sleeps without propping his head on something! Rugby would be able to accept another dog in the home, I think, however, he's extremely reactive and re-directs his reactivity with aggression. So, what that means, is that if he gets wigged out with a trigger sight or sound, he's going after whatever is close, and that would likely be the other dog. In addition, Rugby would also teach his reactivity and wacky behavior to another dog, so trust me....Rugby NEEDS to be an only child in our home!! But he's dearly loved, and he's found his forever family! Thanks so much for reading the blog and for taking time to comment! <3
