Saturday Snicker & Sunday Snuggle for Monday: The Morphing of Pretzel Snuggles

I’ve had a really nice problem lately in the sense that I’ve been blessed with lots of extra dogs to train!  When that happens, I meet myself coming and going and there’s virtually NO time whatsoever for blogging!  I miss being able to contribute on a very consistent basis, and appreciate my readers so very much!  However, as this blog is an unpaid venture of love for me, I simply have to focus on training dogs when my work schedule demands it!  I appreciate all of you being understanding of that, and know that I will post new blogs as I have time to do so!

That being said, a couple of weeks ago, I happened to have a Saturday afternoon at home, and decided to check out the wonders of a fire in the fireplace, the cushy delights of a sofa that sucks me in, a soft blankie, and a snuggle with my bestie!  What I had planned, was to watch a movie and take a short nap.  What I got, was fodder for a wonderful blog!

This is how we started out the afternoon! Rugby snuggled right in with me….eyes adoring….thrilled to be invited on the sofa for a snuggle and a nap with me! Those eyes though….

He promptly snuggled right on top of me, putting his little head right on my chest and letting me pet him into a delirious nappy noodle.

As these things typically go, he got tired of that, and elected to sleep sunny side up, but still very snuggled between me and the back of the sofa. It always makes me giggle when he pulls his tail up to cover his junk! Since his tail naturally curls in the opposite way, I give him extra style points for this!  I love his little crossed front paws….

And that nap position morphed into this one…

Which morphed into this position….

Which ultimately ended up in this nap position! This was my afternoon view of my little snuggle bug! All fluff and fur….and two little back legs sticking straight up in the air!

That’s bound to make your Monday a whole lot better!!  Love and hugs from Rugby James!!

Sunday Snuggles: Playful Pose

I have been missing having time to blog!!  Autumn is typically my busiest time of year for training dogs, and this year, it seemed as if the hot weather would never end!!  Finally, things cooled down, and with the drought, I was training dogs outside left and right this fall!!  Now, we’ve progressed to December, and the holidays are all around us!  With that brings another frantic time of year for me, but to be honest, I’ve loved every bit of the busyness I’ve experienced this fall!!  Not only have I had wonderful dogs to train, but I’ve had some fun family time, and of course, that always means Rugby is included!

Today’s snuggle is a photo sure to make you smile!!  Often when Rugby wakes up after a nap, he enjoys rubbing his back on the floor or his bed, and he wiggles back and forth, with his mouth open, and he cups his face with his little front paws in the cutest way!!  He happened to stop his back wiggle when he saw me with my phone, and just froze in the perfect pose!!  I was able to capture the cutest little playful pose from him, and this makes me smile every time I see it in my photos!

So even though this is a frantic time of year, Rugby has the right idea!  Don’t forget to make time for some play….and freeze in that spot for a while.  The busyness will always be there when you come back to it, but capture playful times….especially with your pets!!  You’ll make memories for a lifetime….and that’s just priceless!

Happy snuggles for your Sunday….courtesy of Rugby James!

Sunday Snuggles: A Cameo of a Small Dog in Deep Thought

This is a sweet photo just because of the look on Rugby’s face.  It’s wistful….almost like I caught a cameo shot of him deep in thought.  I like the way the light hits his snout, making it look lighter than it really is, and contrasting it with the rest of his face.   He’s a little dog who does have deep thoughts, and a beautiful, peaceful look when he’s in a calm, relaxed state.  I treasure these special moments, because the moment he hears a trigger sound, it’s all gone in an instant!

Happy snuggles for your Sunday….from Rugby James…

Sunday Snuggle: That Face!!

One of the things that really tugged at my heart that first day when I saw Rugby’s puppy photo staring at me from my computer screen was his adorable face!  I loved his bright little eyes that were like chocolate drops capable of melting my heart in a nanosecond!

His little face was so very different  in those days.  Not only did he still have floppy ears that were all over the place, but he had such dark ticking on his face, and his little eye mask was so prominent on his face when he was a puppy.  His muzzle still hadn’t grown out to its full length yet, giving him a cute puppy look.

Age brought Rugby’s ears up, and they are like big satellite dishes picking up every single sound that he hears.  He manipulates them ever so subtly at times, and at other times, he gives them a huge range of movement as he tries to pinpoint the exact location of the sound that he’s heard.  The fluffy tendrils of fur that hang from his ears like delicate fringe are a wonderful source of play for me when we’re snuggling together.  They are so soft and I really enjoy running my hands through them over and over as I pet him.

Age has also grayed his muzzle and his face to a pale tan color, versus the deep red color I saw from him as a puppy.  It’s nicely blended into his regular fur, and the ticking is still visible….if you know you’re looking for it!  I think the lighter color has given him an older and wiser appearance, but I do really miss his dark, prominent little mask at times.

The one constant that has never changed 0ver the years are those chocolate drop eyes with thick, gorgeous “guyliner!”  They are so very expressive, and they change from a look that says, “Wanna play” to one that says, “I love you, Mama!”  I honestly really love how Rugby studies my face sometimes in our quiet moments together.  He will soften his eyes, making them a bit smaller, and he will look from one of my eyes to the other, and take in my whole face.  He holds my gaze and his look says, “I could look at you forever!!  I wish this moment would never end!”

And honestly?  Those are my sentiments precisely!  I always want to bottle those moments so that they could last forever…..
