Part of the biggest fun I have at Christmas time, is choosing what I want to get for Rugby! He has his very own stocking, and it’s HUGE, so I can usually put some fun surprises in there for him. I always enjoy wrapping his gifts for him, because he has so much fun ripping into the paper to see what’s inside! Normally, he doesn’t get to shred paper much….although we do give him boxes on occasion. So part of the fun of Christmas for Rugby, is opening his stocking and ripping into his gifts.
But in the days leading up to Christmas, I generally try to do a photo shoot with Rugby, because let’s face it! He’s so darned cute, I can’t help myself! It’s nice to have an annual reminder of him at this time of year, and it’s always amazing to me how many details I can remember about a specific Christmas by just looking at the photos of Rugby’s photo shoot!
We haven’t decorated our house just yet….but that’s on our weekend agenda. Decorating the house is always a special event, but it’s always so exciting to Rugby! He just loves being right in the middle of it all!! When we bring all of the Christmas tubs into the house, he loves poking his snoot into each and every one of them….just to see what’s inside!
Our daughter is 26 now, so we don’t have any young kids at home anymore. Rugby is just what the doctor ordered in that regard. He’s so much fun! His little face shines, and he grins from ear to ear over all of the mess we make in getting the house decorated! He loves to help us! He rarely gets into anything naughty, but he just enjoys “snoopervising” everything from start to finish.
This photo is from 2013…a Christmas card photo with Rugby. I just love this. I got the scarf in 1978 when I was a college student studying abroad. I had taken a short trip to visit Prague, Czechoslovakia and while I was doing some shopping, bought this scarf. After all these years, I still use it from time to time. But mostly, I think it’s just perfect for Rugby! He reminds me so much of Tiny Tim in this photo! He looks so cozy, but he also reminds me of a poor little street urchin wearing it. And given his history….it makes him look so very endearing to me!
I’m looking forward to the weekend to decorate my house….but mostly because I’m looking forward to Rugby’s excitement in the process! Let the countdown to Christmas begin!!
